Stakeholders engaged in a dynamic discussion with Kate Willard OBE on the challenges and prospects of regeneration, with a focus on the Thames Estuary. Thames Estuary is the UK’s most significant government-backed growth opportunity with potential to create 1.3 million jobs and add £190 billion to the economy.
Roundtable on Planning in London with Jules Pipe CBE, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration & Skills, Greater London Authority

Jules Pipe met with the APPG to discuss planning in London, with an in depth focus on the London Plan. He discussed the GLA’s strategies that aim to boost economic development, reduce inequalities, and tackle deprivation across the city. Amongst other issues, the discussion focused on improving housing delivery and developing infrastructure. The meeting evaluated implications of these policies for London and delved into the role of local authorities in ensuring a more conducive planning system, delivering quality and affordable housing, and reducing carbon emissions.

The group met with the Minister for Roads and Local Transport, Richard Holden MP, for a wide ranging discussion around the role of infrastructure in growing the economy and the wider Levelling Up agenda. The conversation also touched on the role of transport in growing the economy and how the Levelling Up White Paper provides a blueprint for this.
